EXHAUST SYSTEM: Manifolds, Muffler, Resonator, Catalytic Converter
Mixing fuel, oxygen and pressure supplies power when ignited and an engine turns that power into force but the combustion process also creates, noise, water, dirt and poisonous gases. These must be subdued and carried away from the operator and passengers. This led to the development of exhaust technology. The exhaust is the car's smoke stack and over the years has become steeped in technology. Baffles to reduce noise, pumps to re-circulate burnt fuel, Oxygen sensors to adjust idle speed, resonators and catalytic converters to convert noxious fumes to a more benign state.
